SOS (Service Opportunities for Students) is a student run interactive web site dedicated to helping teens select community service opportunities that meet school requirements and provide enriching experiences. Activities are supervised by an adult group interested in facilitating community service among young people. Four high schools in Princeton are represented on the Student Board including Princeton High School, Stuart Country Day School, The Hun School, and Princeton Day School. Each high school may send five representatives to the student board. Each person will serve on the board for the duration of their high school tenure. The Board serves to create the web site initially and then service and maintain it. Maintenance includes adding pre-approved community service sites as well as emergent opportunities and making sure the information is current, accurate and accessible. Maintenance also includes evaluating the students' experience at service sites and posting that information in an appropriate readable manner. Finally, the site includes an educational portion that provides prospective volunteers with tips on how to prepare for and present themselves on the "job". Adults provide ongoing supervision. Current Board members include: Ari Simon, Rebecca Tipermas, Rachel Tipermas, Rebecca Spalding, Sarah Schwartz, Celine Elefson, Nithya Mathews, Yassamine Ebadat, Eric Smith. Community Service credit is offered by the high schools to those students who serve as Board Members.
